OSHA: Guallpa Contracting Corp. Exposed Workers to Fall Hazards

March 28, 2018
Guallpa previously was cited in 2014 and 2015.

A Milford, Mass. roofing contractor is facing $299,324 in proposed penalties after agency inspectors observed workers performing tasks without fall protection.

Luis Guallpa - doing business as Guallpa Contracting Corp., exposed workers to fall and other hazards at a Nashua job site.

“Fall protection is required when employees are working at heights of six 6 feet or higher,” said Rosemarie Cole, OSHA New Hampshire area director, in a statement. “This employer’s continued failure to follow safety standards is placing employees at risk of serious injury or death.”

Six of the company's employees were on a roof without fall protection, and agency investigators witness workers using ladders improperly as well as a lack of head protection.

OSHA cited the employer for exposing employees to fall hazards of up to 25 feet, for ladder and head protection violations and for failing to provide training.

The company was cited for similar hazards in 2014 and 2015, according to the agency.

Guallpa Contracting Corp. has 15 business days from receipt of its citations to respond to OSHA.
