The National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) will meet in Washington, D.C., on June 6, to review its final draft report on OSHA''s standards development process.

NACOSH has studied the agency''s process for standards development, including the use of advisory committees and the role of professional associations and consensus standards-setting organizations in that process.

Panel discussions, involving both OSHA staff and members of the public involved in the process, were held during the last four meetings.

With the study completed, NACOSH members are ready to discuss their recommendations in full detail.

The committee will also hear a brief overview on current OSHA and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) activities.

NACOSH was established by authority of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to advise the secretaries of labor and health and human services on occupational safety and health programs.

Members of the 12-person advisory committee are chosen on the basis of their knowledge and experience in occupational safety and health.

The June 6 meeting will take place in Room N5437 A-D at the Department of Labor, Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
