Applications for the Annual VPP Outreach and Innovation Awards are being accepted now through July 1, 2000 by the Voluntary Protection Program Participants'' Association (VPPPA).
The winners will be announced during opening ceremonies for the 16th Annual National Conference in Seattle, Wash., on Aug. 28.
The annual awards recognize those sites and individuals that have made exceptional contributions to the mission of the VPPPA, which is "to be a leader in health, safety and environmental excellence through cooperation among communities, workers, industries and governments."
These pioneers in safety and health have shared their knowledge of safe practices with others or developed new techniques to create a safer, healthier worksite.
There are three award categories which each award both individuals and worksites.
The VPPPA Safety and Health Outreach Award recognizes "VPP Models" who reach out to share the safety and health technical and management expertise developed at their sites.
The VPP Outreach Award recognizes the "VPP Ambassadors" who achieve outstanding results from outreach activity, while encouraging others to reach that level.
The VPP Innovation Award is awarded to a site that has developed a "New" safety and health technique or program, encouraging the seeking of excellence through creative approaches to occupational safety and health.
