The DaimlerChrysler Corp. Fund donates $25,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation.

The DaimlerChrysler Corp. Fund donated $25,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation (ASSEF) this week. This is its third consecutive gift of $25,000 DaimlerChrysler has made to the ASSEF in support of the safety profession.

"Hundreds of students from around the country and from all walks of life benefit significantly from contributions from safety-focused organizations such as the DaimlerChrysler Corp. Fund as they pursue their academic studies in occupational safety and health," ASSE Foundation Chair Edwin P. Granberry, Jr., FAIC, CES, said.

"We commend [DaimlerChrysler] for continuing their commitment to giving many the opportunity to continue their education and research and to bring their expertise and findings to the workplace, eventually helping everyone, everywhere improve their quality of life," he added.

The ASSEF, through contributions from individual ASSE members, corporations, ASSE chapters, regions and practice specialty groups, funds safety research and education; provides professional development and financial resources to individuals and non-profit organizations pursuing safety research and careers; advances the safety profession through financial awards for scholarships, internships and fellowships; and works towards developing accredited degree programs countrywide.

For information on the Foundation and how to apply for an ASSEF scholarship or research grant go to the ASSEF Web site at www.asse.org/foundat.htm.
