Shooting at Cincinnati-Area Trucking Company Leaves Two Dead

Nov. 6, 2003
Tom West carries a grudge, a long memory and a gun. Make that two guns.

West, who left his employment at Watkins Motor Lines Inc. in West Chester, Ohio, two years ago this month, returned with a vengance today (Nov. 6).

He walked into a lunchroom carrying two guns and opened fire, killing one employee, fatally injury a second employee who later died at the hospital, and wounding three others before fleeing the scene in a white van. Indiana police captured him at a rest stop about 50 miles from the scene of the crime. They were responding to a call about an argumentative motorist at a truck stop.

At this point, authorities are unsure of his motive, or the circumstances of his leaving the employ of Watkins Motor Lines.
