If confirmed by the Senate, Wark and Wright would serve 5-year terms on the board. CSB is an independent federal agency charged with investigating industrial chemical accidents.
Wark currently serves as executive vice president for Clifton, Va.-based LGH Inc., which provides executive and leadership development consulting services. According to his bio on the LGH Web site, Wark's previous experience includes 17 years in various positions with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He also was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
Wright currently serves as chairman of the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board. Wright, who has served as a U.S. Navy captain for 30 years, also has been commander of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE and head of the Ordnance Branch for the Chief of Naval Operations.
The two current CSB vacancies were created by the departures of Rixio Medina, who resigned from the board on Aug. 23, 2004, and Dr. Gerald Poje, who left CSB after completing his second 5-year term with the agency on Nov. 15, 2004.
The three current members of the board are Carolyn Merritt, chairman, whose term expires Aug. 2, 2007; John Bresland, whose terms expires Aug. 2, 2007; and Gary Visscher, whose term ends Nov. 29, 2009.
