VPPPA Elected to Associations Advance America Honor Roll

March 23, 2000
VPPPA was honored for its Mentoring Program, which provides mentors for work sites in pursuit of Voluntary Protection Program recognition.

The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA) has been elected to the Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives of Washington, D.C.

VPPPA received the award in recognition of its Mentoring Program, which provides work sites in pursuit of Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) recognition the chance to be mentored by an approved VPP Star site. These mentors volunteer to share insights and personal experiences with VPP participation; techniques of conducting an annual evaluation of safety and health programs; information about resources available to help the site's VPP approval; and ways on communicating the benefits of VPP to management and employees.

Sharing Safety and health best practices with other sites is an effective means of supporting VPP. By promoting the benefits of their safety and health programs, VPP sites encourage potential applicants to pursue the programs.

Now in its 10th year, the prestigious Associations Advance America Awards program recognizes associations that propel America forward with innovative projects in education, skills training, standards-setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship, and community service.
