ASSE Announces New Board

Nine members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE)\r\nwere sworn into office at the annual ASSE Professional Development\r\nConference held last month in Florida.

Nine members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) were sworn into office at the annual ASSE Professional Development Conference held last month in Florida.

At the head of this newly formed board is ASSE President Samuel J. Gualardo, CSP. Gualardo began his term as president of the 32,000-member society July 1.

Now serving as president-elect is M.E. Eddie Greer, CSP, who is manager of risk and incident management for Houston-based Halliburton Co.

Other ASSE officers sworn in include Mark D. Hansen, P.E., CSP, of Houston, Texas, as senior vice president. Hansen is the quality, health, safety and environmental director for Weatherford International Inc.

The following board members will serve two-year terms. They include Marcella R. Thompson, CSP, RN, as vice president of finance. Thompson has worked as a safety engineer since 1992 for ON Semiconductor Corp. in East Greenwich, R.I.

Kathy A. Seabrook, CSP, will serve as vice president of the council on practices and standards which oversees 12 practice specialty divisions. She is president of Global Solutions in Medham, N.J.

Sam A. Lybarger, CSP, was elected vice president of Region II. Lybarger works at Safety S.A.M. and Associates in Las Vegas, Nev.

John S. Fleming Jr., will serve as vice president of Region IV. Fleming owns Fleming Safety Consulting in Moss Point-Pasagoula, Miss.

Jack H. Luckhardt, CSP, ARM, was elected vice president of Region VI. He is principal advisor at the Luckhardt Group in Walkersville, Md.

Douglas Pastore, CIH, will serve as vice president of Region VIII. Pastore is a regional safety and environmental manager in Piscataway, N.J.

The newly elected officers from across the country and with various safety expertise will serve their term from July 1, 2000 until June 30, 2002.
