Want to live long into the next century? The California offices of the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and American Lung Association say there are five lifestyle choices anyone can make to live longer and healthier.
Exercise regularly, eat five servings of fruits and vegetables daily, buckle your seat belt, reduce stress and, if you smoke, quit.
"Smoking is the number one preventable cause of premature death," said Dr. Vanessa Tatum with the American Lung Association. "If you're a smoker and trying to improve your health and get in shape, there's no better time than today to quit smoking."
According to a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), people who maintain low blood pressure and cholesterol levels and who don't smoke can add six to nine-and-a-half years to their lives, compared to those who are less careful about their health.
