The Washington Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) and the Washington Restaurant Association are conducting a joint, statewide program to prevent injuries to teen workers in fast food restaurants. It focuses on preventing slips and falls, cuts, burns and sprains.
Participating fast food restaurants are being asked to implement new safety procedures, send managers and supervisors to safety-training classes, conduct regular crew safety meetings and place stickers on equipment prohibited for use by teens.
The training classes, "Supervising for Safety," are sponsored by the L&I and the Washington Restaurant Association and are free. They are being offered on April 25 in Spokane at the West Coast Ridpath Hotel, and on May 23, June 19 and July 24 in King County at a location to be announced at a later date.
For registration information, call Mary Miller of L&I at (360) 902-6041.
