ASSE SeminarFest to Focus on Safety Education and Management Best Practices

Providing professionals with a weeklong source to enhance their workplace safety skills and management techniques is the goal of the American Society of Safety Engineers' (ASSE) SeminarFest 2006, which is being held Jan. 22-28 at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas.

SeminarFest offers management sessions on topics such as corporate safety, emergency response, hazardous materials, safety and health system audits, risk control and contractor safety. Sessions include topics such as:

  • Nanotechnology;
  • Confined space safety;
  • Communicating with the Spanish work force;
  • Risk assessment for pregnant workers;
  • Hearing conservation,
  • Incident investigation; and much more.

SeminarFest also will address executive safety leadership, safety metrics, strategic planning and ways to gain participation in building workplace safety culture. Sessions last 1 to 3 days and vary in skill level.

Two special luncheon presentations will focus on techniques to create a positive environment for workers and ways to enhance employee involvement in identifying and controlling hazards.

SeminarFest will feature required courses for the Certificate in Safety Management program and the Executive Program in Safety Management through ASSE. Workshops also will be held for professionals preparing for certification exams such as the Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).

Discounts are available for members of ASSE, the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers, the American Industrial Hygiene Association and nonmembers by the early registration deadline of Dec. 21.
