Motorola Inc.'s South Florida paging facility yesterday was awarded the "Workplace Safety Award" from the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security.
The "Workplace Safety Award" is given to companies that exemplify an ongoing commitment to safety and health in the workplace for its employees.
"Motorola's implementation of high-quality safety and health protection programs further demonstrates its commitment to its employees," said Henry Hutchinson, safety program manager, Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security.
Motorola's South Florida facility has a staff of more than 2,000 employees in a three-shift operation.
"We take pride in what we do helping to ensure that the safety and health conditions of our plants are not only making the grade, but winning with flying colors," said Rick Infante, senior safety manager. "Our employees are important to us and we want to do everything we can to help ensure their well-being."
