Many people are concerned about what will happen if an actual flu pandemic occurs. Understanding what a flu pandemic is and what you may expect during a flu pandemic can help bring peace of mind to your employees and give them the confidence they need to make informed decisions to lessen the impact of a flu pandemic on their lives.

Public education about pandemic flu has been identified as a key role of the American Red Cross. The seminar is appropriate for workplaces, communities and families to help individuals prepare for a pandemic flu event. It includes the following information:

What to expect during a flu pandemic.
The similarities and differences between seasonal flu and pandemic flu.
How the influenza virus spreads.
Steps to help prevent the spread of seasonal and pandemic flu.
How to prepare for a flu pandemic.
OSHA guidelines for pandemic flu.
We will also introduce the new Pandemic Flu Public Information Series – Are You Prepared? presentation . The purpose of this presentation is to provide participants in the workplace and in communities with the knowledge they need to prepare for a flu pandemic and steps they can take to help prevent the spread of flu. A Leader's Toolkit is available which includes a DVD, Leader's Guide, CD-ROM, brochures and interactive worksheets.
