In a joint agreement, Robert Cutler, president of the Northamerican Industrial Representatives Association (NIRA), and Craig Lindsay, president of the Safety Equipment Manufacturers'' Agents Association (SEMMA) announced the unanimous approval of their respective Boards of Directors for SEMAA to become "the safety equipment affiliate" of NIRA, as of Jan. 1, 2001.
Both presidents said that their respective negotiating teams spent the better part of a year arriving at an agreement that was "Win, Win" for both organizations.
For NIRA, SEMAA becomes its first vertical affiliate. The influx of 100 new member firms will provide it a broader base and greater industry visibility.
It will enable NIRA to continue their focus of promoting, protecting and improving the multiple-line representative function.
For SEMAA, its continuing thrust will be to industrial safety and the skills necessary to service the safety market.
SEMAA members will now be able to take advantage of NIRA''s many benefits and services not previously available.
Under the new organization, Lindsay will become a director on NIRA''s Board and will lead the SEMAA Affiliate as its chairman.
