Six Kerr-McGee Plants Exceed EPA Rules

Kerr-McGee Chemical's six wood-preserving plants were named charter members of EPA's National Environmental Achievement\r\nTrack Program.

Kerr-McGee Chemical''s six wood-preserving plants, located in Mississippi, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Texas and Oregon, were named charter members of EPA''s National Environmental Achievement Track Program.

The program recognizes and rewards businesses for exceeding environmental protection requirements.

To be eligible for membership in this program, facilities must have an environmental management program in place and operating; commit to continued improvements in specific environmental areas; reach out to communities and publicly report on emission levels; and maintain a strong record of compliance with environmental regulations.

"It''s a great honor for all six of our forest product plants to be selected for membership in this EPA program," said Pete Woodward, senior vice president for chemicals at Kerr-McGee. "The selection is a direct result our employees'' hard work and dedication to safety and environmental stewardship. Both are top priorities at all of our facilities, and I commend our employees for this great achievement."

Kerr-McGee''s six facilities were among the 225 facilities selected by EPA as charter program members.
