Thompson currently is an attorney with Watkins, Ludlam, Winter & Stennis and serves as co-chair of the firm's labor and employment law practice group. He is a member of the New Orleans Metropolitan Safety Council.
Thompson received his bachelor's degree and J.D. from Tulane University after studying chemical engineering at Georgia Tech University. His background in both engineering and labor law prepared him for the technical issues that arise in occupational health and safety law, according to the Watkins, Ludlam, Winter & Stennis Web site. One of the nation's most experienced labor arbitration lawyers, since 1970 Thompson has represented parties in the arbitration of more than 300 workplace grievances in 10 state.
Thompson previously served as a founding partner of McCalla, Thompson, Pyburn, Hymowitz & Shapiro. He practiced with the firm for 25 years, specializing in labor relations law. Earlier in his career, Thompson practiced with the law firm of Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrere & Denegre. During that time, he also served as an administrative leader of the firm's labor and employment law section.
Thompson and his wife, Susan, live in Pass Christian, Mississippi and have two children, Clarke and Jeffery.
