New MSHA Administrator to Be Nominated

David Lauriski, president of Lauriski & Associates in Price,\r\nUtah, is expected to be nominated by President Bush as the next MSHA\r\nadministrator.

David Lauriski, president of Lauriski & Associates in Price, Utah, is expected to be nominated by President Bush as the next MSHA administrator.

Lauriski has many years of experience in operations management, safety affairs, human resources and environmental health and safety.

He was general manager for the Energy West Mining Co. in Huntington, Utah, and was director of health, safety and environmental affairs at Interwest Mining Co. in Salt Lake City.

In addition, Lauriski served as director of health, safety and training at Energy West Mining Co. and was industrial relations manager, safety director and safety engineer at Kaiser Steel Corp.''s Sunnyside mine.

He is certified as a mine safety professional by the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals.

In addition, he is certified by the state of Utah as both a surface and underground mine foreman and as a mine examiner, and he is a qualified MSHA inspector.

It is expected that Lauriski''s nomination will be sent to the Senate for confirmation within the next few weeks.
