OSHA Series Aims at Helping Small Businesses

A four-month series of breakfast seminars in the Massachusetts area will provide information on focused workplace safety and health topics for small businesses.

OSHA will kick off a four-month series of breakfast seminars in Springfield, Mass., aimed at providing information on focused workplace safety and health topics of specific concern to small businesses.

The agency, in cooperation with the Safety Council of Western Massachusetts and the Region I Chapter of Voluntary Protection Programs Participants Association, will co-sponsor the Occupational Safety and Health Breakfast Series 2000.

The breakfasts will take place on the second Wednesday of the months February through May 2000, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., at the Safety Council of Western Massachusetts.

Topics that will be discussed at the Breakfast Series include fire safety and violence in the workplace; OSHA training requirements; elements and outline of occupational safety and health programs; and working with subcontractors to control exposures to safety and health hazards.

The purpose of these sessions is to provide small business employers with an introduction to and understanding of these occupational safety and health topics and furnish them with various resources to help them implement these programs in their workplaces, said OSHA.

There is no cost for attendance at the breakfast events. Employers interested in attending may register on-line at www.scwm.org
