Safety Engineers Annual Conference Set for Early June

Safety professionals will gather June 10-13, in Anaheim, Calif., for the annual American Society of Safety Engineers Professional Development Conference and Exposition.

Best practices in safety management, case studies and lessons learned from foremost leaders in the safety, health and environmental field, engineering and technical methods, risk assessment, accident prevention, construction safety tips and more will be featured at the annual American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Professional Development Conference and Exposition, June 10-13, in Anaheim, Calif.

ABC 20/20''s Chief Correspondent Chris Wallace, will kick off the general sessions with his Washington, D.C., perspective and a look at changes that are being realized as the new administration takes shape.

John Nance, an air safety analyst for ABC and flight safety advocate will speak about the human/machine interface and its relations to safety.

In addition, ASSE president-elect Eddie Greer, the manager of global behavior based performance at Halliburton Co. in Houston, Texas, will address the attendees on the importance of leadership for the safety professional based on his 26 years in the business.

The conference features more than 115 educational sessions focusing on various areas in the safety and health profession.

The sessions also feature an expanded Fundamentals of Safety and Health track, which offers an introduction to a broad range topics geared to professionals with less than three years'' experience.

The concurrent sessions offer educational opportunities for veteran and new practitioners alike and cover a broad range of topics, including leadership, construction, ergonomics, international safety and health, engineering, risk management, insurance and environmental protection.

Additionally, attendees will have an opportunity to focus on professional development in their specific industry by participating in one of 10 practice specialty sessions, industry-specific programs.

The topics of these programs include construction, consulting, engineering, industrial hygiene, mining, the public sector and risk management.

Scheduled to take place Thursday, June 7 through Sunday, June 10 also in Anaheim, are pre-conference seminars for continuing education units and certification preparation workshops.

These will also be available during the post-conference seminars to be held beginning Wednesday, June 13 through Saturday, June 16.

Hundreds of companies will be on hand to display their products and services at the exposition. Expo hours are Sunday from 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m.; Monday from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
