John L. (Jack) Hurst III, executive vice presidents -- Chlorovinyls Group for Occidental Chemical Corp., will speak to more than 2,000 safety, health and environmental leaders at the annual National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants'' Association (VPPPA) Conference on Aug. 27, in New Orleans.
The conference will take place at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
Hurst has more than 20 years of experience at OxyChem, a corporation that prides itself on safety and health achievements, key among them their involvement in OSHA''s Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
Hurst will share his views on how to maintain focus on health and safety in a constantly changing business environment, and the role VPP plays.

Hurst assumed the role of executive vice president -- Chlorovinyls Group for OxyChem at the beginning of this year.
Before being named to his current position, Hurst served in executive vice president capacities in the manufacturin, engineering, operations and business sectors of OxyChem.
In his current position as global leader of the chlor-alkali and vinyls businesses, his stated objective is "to have every site become a VPP Star site."
"Jazz up safety with VPPPA" is the theme of this year''s conference being held from Aug. 27-30.
More than 100 workshops with topics ranging from ergonomics to OSHA compliance will be presented to attendees.
