OSHA: Jasper Contractors Continues Seven-Year Stretch of Being Dismissive about Safety

April 15, 2016
Roofing company is "dismissive" about safety, OSHA says.

Since 2009, OSHA cited Kennesaw, Ga.-based Jasper Contractors with a total of 24 safety violations after inspecting 13 different work sites. In 2015, OSHA completed five inspections at residential Jasper job sites and found fall protection and protection violations that continue to put workers at risk of serious injury or death.

In the past seven years, OSHA has cited the residential and commercial roofing contractor for willful, serious and repeat violations for failure to provide adequate fall and eye protection and for ladder safety. OSHA has assessed $516,000 in fees for fall protection, personal protective equipment and other safety violations.

"Despite its claim that its employees 'are adults who know the risks,' Jasper Contractors has a legal responsibility to protect its employees," said Brian Sturtecky, OSHA's area director in Jacksonville, Fla. "This company's dismissive approach toward workplace safety is illegal and irresponsible. OSHA will continue to use all its available resources to ensure workers are protected."

The 2015 citations involved failure to ensure employees were wearing fall protection equipment while working at heights of eight feet and failure to have workers wearing eye protection while using powered nail guns.

Jasper has offices in Louisiana, Indiana and Florida and serves Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Evansville, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and surrounding areas.
