Earth Day: Greening the Planet, One Act a Time

April 22, 2011
In recognition of Earth Day on April 22, the Earth Day Network encourages people worldwide to take environmental action through the Billion Acts of Green campaign.

Through the campaign, individuals can pledge to undertake acts of environmental service and advocacy. These acts can include small changes, such as always turning off lights when leaving a room, committing to a comprehensive recycling program, carting groceries home in reusable canvas bags, converting to energy-efficient light bulbs or embarking on larger scale efforts, such as initiating efforts to green organizations, schools or cities.
