It’s a New Year – Make a Resolution to Get Certified

Jan. 9, 2014
For those who want to make 2014 the year that they become certified, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene has developed a clear path to CIH certification.

As safety professionals and industrial hygienists set their professional goals for 2014, many are resolving to earn designation as a certified industrial hygienist, or CIH.

“The CIH has been the premier standard of occupational hygiene certification for more than half a century, attaining uncompromised integrity, global recognition and career-lasting value,” says the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, which administers the internationally recognized CIH program. “The CIH is held only by an elite group of professionals and provides the credential that allows an industrial hygienist to stand out from the crowd.”

For those who want to make 2014 the year that they become certified, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene has developed a clear path to CIH certification.

The first step is to review one’s eligibility, which can be determined in a matter of minutes using a self-assessment tool. ABIH points out that it can help each person customize a path for closing any requirement gaps.

Once this has been completed, the application process requires educational transcripts, two professional references and a small application fee, according to ABIH. Those planning to take the spring exam need to submit all application materials by Feb. 1. The application deadline for the fall exam is Aug. 1.

“2014 is the year for many in the industrial hygiene profession to take their careers to the next level by earning the CIH credential,” says Tracy Parsons, CIH, administrative program manager at ABIH. “ABIH has made the CIH application process simple and has outlined the necessary requirements and due dates for industrial hygienists planning on applying for the CIH certification this year.”

For more information no how to become a CIH, visit the ABIH website, email [email protected] or call (517) 321-2638.
