  • A new line of life-saving products for tracking downed firefighters through an exclusive manufacturing and supply agreement with Exit Technologies of Boulder, Colo. Through this agreement, Draeger launched two fireground tracking products at the 2007 Fire-Rescue International show under the names Draeger FRT 1000 and Draeger ETR 1000 (see February 2008 Protection Update).

  • ExoFit XP Rescue Harness, which combines the comfort of the ExoFit XP fall-arrest harness with essential features needed for rope access, positioning and suspension. It is ideal for those requiring fall arrest with occasional rope rescue needs, as well as those performing rigging operations, the company said, adding that the harness incorporates connection points on the waist and chest that provide attachments for high- and low-angle rope rescue.

  • Tool bag accessory for full-body harnesses. The DBI-SALA line features an 11-pocket model that accommodates a variety of tools and fasteners, including combination square and pry bar, and a 15-pocket model that includes an iron hammer loop and removable top pouch for tape measure, the company said.

  • The Perimeter Limiter Freestanding Counterweight Anchor for fall protection in decking operations during concrete construction. The device provides a non-penetrating, overhead anchorage point for a personal fall-arrest system for up to two users, the company said, adding that any SRL or shock-absorbing lanyard that limits arrest forces to a maximum of 900 pounds can be used with the anchor.

  • The Roof Top Anchor for membrane and built-up type roofs as an addition to the company's line of Roof Top anchors, currently available for corrugated metal and wood-sheathing roof tops. Each anchor features a unique “tip-over” load-distributing design to keep the worker safe and preserve the structural integrity of the roof in the event of a fall, the company said.

  • National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approval for use of the OptimAir TL powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) with tight-fitting facepiece. This PAPR may now be used for any number of job applications with loose-fitting hoods and tight-fitting facepieces, MSA said.

The ToxiRAE 3 features a stainless-steel front cover to withstand harsh environments and currently is available in three models: hydrogen sulfide and high- and low-range carbon monoxide, the company said, adding that they carry U.S. Canada, E.U. and global IECEX safety certificates for use in oil, gas, steel and first responder hazardous environments.
