Dangerous Companies, Summer Hazards and Mental Health: What You’re Reading This Month

June 24, 2022
A recap of the most popular stories of the month, as determined by you.

Happy summer! We welcomed meteorological summer by eating ice cream and watching the sun set over Lake Erie. It was a hot (mid-90 degrees Fahrenheit) but lovely evening. We hope it’s a harbinger of good days ahead.

Speaking of good news, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the emergency use of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for children ages 6 months to 5 years old. Doses are now available at doctors’ offices—a relief for many parents. And, it’s one more way to combat the pandemic.

New COVID-19 cases are averaging close to 100,000 per day. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization is considering declaring monkeypox a global health emergency. These continue to be challenging times, and EHS Today is committed to helping you every step of the way.

We see you reading our latest on OSHA’s COVID standard. We’ll update you as more information becomes available. But it seems much of your efforts are focused on other emerging, current and pressing issues: summer heat, natural disasters, mental health and other workplace hazards.

We notice your interest in National COSH’s Dirty Dozen. We hear your complaints and acknowledge the list’s shortcomings. Still, it seems that you want to know what other employers are doing, perhaps for benchmarking or comparison. Let us know what challenges you’re facing and how we can help in the comments below.
