In the coming days, thousands will travel by highway and roadway to their holiday destination of choice. While most travelers will should not expect to encounter significant problems, except for increased traffic, some may have difficulties. The Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness offers some advice on how to protect yourself if you are stranded in a car during your travels.
- Stay in your car. Do not leave unless you can see a building close by where you know you can take shelter.
- Display some sign that you are in trouble. Turn on your flashers and tie a bright cloth to your car antenna or door.
- Open a window slightly to prevent freezing rain and snow from sealing you in your car.
