"Each year, more than 6,000 people die from work-related injuries and hundreds of thousands more contract job-related diseases," ASSE President Eddie Greer said. "There is much to be done to reduce the number of work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses, and NIOSH plays a key role in this."
Greer said the agency is on the right track with ongoing research and education programs on workplace accidents and solutions, but added, "Much, much more needs to be done." He noted ASSE members in California worked closely with Howard "and know his commitment to workplace safety is a strong one."
