CSB Will Release Preliminary Results of BP Refinery Investigation at Public Meeting

The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) has announced it will convene a community meeting in Texas City, Texas, later this month to present the preliminary findings from its investigation of the March 23 explosion and fire at BP America's refinery there.

The meeting also will be an opportunity for CSB to hear public comments related to the incident and the agency's investigation.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Doyle Convention Center in Texas City.

There is no fee or registration required to attend. Following the investigators' presentation, CSB will hear comments from members of the public.

The March 23 explosion and fire occurred in the refinery's isomerization unit. Fifteen contract workers were killed and more than 170 people were injured.
