Sometimes One Ladder Isn't Enough
Sometimes, the misuse of several ladders is necessary to be crowned the biggest idiot on a ladder.
An American Is Honored
This entry showcases an American idiot on a ladder. I guess an 8-foot ladder wasn't available. It probably was being balanced on top of a van in place of a 12-foot ladder that could be utilized from the ground.
Notice the Blue Bar
Although THIS guy doesn't seem to care about his personal safety, someone on this job site obviously cares about the safety of others. The blue bar was placed across an opening on the stairs until a handrail could be installed. But notice how it dips down in the middle? Should we take bets that the worker tried to balance his board across it before he went and got the second ladder in the forefront of the photo?
I Voted for This One
I feel that this photo should have won. Perhaps others took points off because the idiot is not in sight. I think he's not in sight because he was electrocuted and rushed to the hospital when he leaned that metal ladder against the power lines for support.
This Even Looks Dangerous
I can't figure out how or where they've braced that bottom ladder. Can you?
Haven't we learned anything from cartoons? You don't saw off the branch on which you're standing and you don't cut off the part of the tree your ladder is leaning against.
Things that Make You Go Hmmm...
Why is that little ladder there? Is it supposed to be bracing the much-taller ladder?
The Flying Wallendas
Could this be a member of the Flying Wallandas? You know, the family that had a circus act and were most known for performing highwire acts without a safety net. Because this guy has very good balance!
Didn't We See This in a Cartoon Once?
I keep expecting to see Wile E Coyote pop his head out of the truck and drive off with a wave, leaving this guy hanging from the roof.
The Idiot's Friend
This poor guy. He's not the idiot on the ladder. He's the friend holding the ladder. He's an idiot by association.
Many Ladders, Many Idiots?
There are several ladders in this photo...and many idiots. And can anyone explain the purpose of the short ladder wrapping over the wall?
No Time Like the Present...
...To be an idiot. Really? Really ??! I think this cringe worthy photo could have been a contender for Biggest Idiot on a Ladder.
Let's Ignore the Obvious
Enough people have been nominated for this "honor" for having ladders braced on the top of vans and trucks that this guy should know better. But I want to know what he thought he was going to do with the smaller ladder. I bet he was planning to use it to create an extension ladder with taller one. He needs to take idiot lessons from the next guy in the gallery...
This Guy Is a Pro
That last guy was an amateur at being an idiot on a ladder. This guy is a pro. Stack those ladders!! (And hang on to what looks like maybe a light fixture dangling from the ceiling for added support.)
When You Can't Find a Ladder
Another worker must have been using the only ladder on this job site, so this guy improvised.
New Career as a Stunt Double
Isn't this how spies and cat burglars in movies move between rooms and escape capture? Perhaps this worker could get part-time work as a stunt double for James Bond or if Hollywood remakes "To Catch a Thief."
It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time
The only thing better than an idiot on a ladder is three idiots on a ladder.
How? And Why?
I can't even figure out how he got on the ladder, let alone why he thought this was a good idea.
A Ladder, A Cart, What's the Difference?
When a ladder isn't available, I look for a rolling cart, don't you?
Where's the Ladder?
The only ladder I see is folded on top of the van. And I don't see any fall protection either. Hmmm... 1-800-321-OSHA
A ladder to the roof of the van and a ladder from the roof of the van to the chimney used while carrying a large piece of tubing. Because why wouldn't you?
That's What Friends Are For
It's a good friend who will balance on a slopped roof to hold up one side of a ladder for you so that you have a level place to stand while you make a repair. Of course, that makes your friend an idiot too.
