Nearly 1,000 EHS professionals responded to EHS Today’s 2013 National Safety Survey. Most are well-paid and well-educated, with responsibilities that included safety, emergency response, occupational health, workers’ compensation, ergonomics and industrial hygiene. Many work at companies that are starting to focus on leading indicators, offer wellness initiatives and have corporate leaders and employees who are engaged in safety. Interestingly, despite that good news, only 5 percent said they would describe their company’s safety efforts as “world-class.”
