Ohio Plastics Company Fined $261,909 for Workplace Violations

Wilbert Plastic Services exposed workers to electric hazards.

Wilbert Inc., doing business as Wilbert Plastic Services, has racked up $261,454 for numerous health and safety violations after an OSHA investigation.

The Bellevue, Ohio-based plastics manufacturer exposed its employees to fall, machine and electrical hazards.

“Using proper safety controls, and removing damaged devices from service can protect employees from exposure to known hazards in the workplace,” said Kim Nelson, OSHA Toledo area office director.

While conducting maintenance on plastic injection molding presses, workers were unprotected against crush injuries, burns and fall hazards. OSHA investigators also cited Wilbert for failing to ensure employees had adequate personal protective equipment and clothing and for permitting the use of damaged electrical devices.

Wilbert Inc. has 15 business days to respond to the agency, either through compliance or contesting.
