Listen Up: OSHA Schedules Nov. 3 Meeting to Discuss Hearing Loss

Stakeholders will have the opportunity to offer their comments, opinions, ideas and best practices surrounding occupational hearing loss prevention during a Nov. 3 OSHA public meeting in Washington, D.C.

OSHA Administrator Dr. David Michaels pointed out that every year, between 20,000 and 25,000 employees suffer preventable hearing loss caused by high workplace noise levels. He stressed that the agency is holding this stakeholder meeting “to elicit the views of employers, workers, noise control experts and public health professionals.”

Stakeholders will be able to share their best practices for hearing conservation programs, PPE, engineering controls and more.

The meeting will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Nov. 3 at the Frances Perkins Building, U.S. Department of Labor, Room N-4437 A/B/C/D, at 200 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. Those stakeholders interested in attending may register online or call 781-674-7374 by Oct. 27.
