OSHA, National Center for Transgender Equality Form Alliance

OSHA will work with NCTE to develop new resources and to educate employers.

OSHA formed an alliance with the National Center for Transgender Equality to protect transgender workers.

"Through this alliance, we will jointly work with the NCTE to develop products and guidance materials to improve workplace safety and health for all workers," said Assistant Secretary of Labor David Michaels.

The National Transgender Discrimination Survey reports that 55 percent of transgender people surveyed have lost a job because of bias, and another 22 percent of workers were denied access to gender-appropriate restrooms on the job.

The two-year alliance will allow OSHA to speak, exhibit and appear at NCTE conferences, meetings and events, and NCTE will review, promote and disseminate new guidance products.

Through its Alliance Program, OSHA works with various organizations and businesses to develop compliance assistance tools and resources, and to educate workers and employers about their rights and responsibilities.
