Dr. Utley graduated from Harvard Medical School (' 92) and completed his surgical training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, as well as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, at Stanford University Medical Center, where he was subsequently appointed to the faculty as clinical assistant professor of surgery (1992-2003). He has over 25 peer-reviewed publications related to GI, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and otolaryngology.
Before starting Pivot, Utley was the first employee and Chief Medical Officer for BARRX Medical (GI endoscopy, acquired by Covidien in 2012) from 2003 to 2014.
