Pittsburgh-based Industrial Scientific Corp. announced changes to its corporate structure to support its recent growth. Kevin Miller was promoted to general manager of Americas sales and services; Garth Miller was promoted to the newly created position of vice president of customer operations; and Doug Velegol was appointed program manager.

In other Industrial Scientific news, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) recently certified the company's MX6 iBrid multi-gas monitor as intrinsically safe for use in hazardous locations.

Pelican Products

Don Jordan was named CFO of Pelican Products, a leader in the design and manufacture of advanced lighting systems. Jordan brings more than 20 years of financial management experience to the position and will help drive domestic and international growth as the company launches new sales initiatives in the United States, Europe and Asia. “Don's financial management has been exemplary as Pelican continues to grow by leaps and bounds,” said Lyndon Faulkner, president and CEO. “He is the right man to help guide our organization as we execute our explosive growth strategy with significant capital investments, international expansion and potential acquisitions.”

W.W. Grainger Inc.

W.W. Grainger Inc.'s Roanoke, Texas, distribution center achieved a safety milestone when its 250 employees logged 1 million continuous working hours with no lost-time accidents. The company implemented a multi-faceted approach to encourage a safer workplace, including regular safety communication, process improvement projects and a constant focus on awareness of potential dangers. “It takes hard work from everyone on the team to keep safety awareness and accident prevention top-of-mind,” said Dean Kellogg, the facility's director of distribution operations.

Occupational Hazards named Grainger one of America's Safest Companies in 2007.

Best Glove

Georgia-based Best Glove Inc. recently unveiled its new Web site, http://www.bestglove.com. The site features ChemRest, the company's dedicated Web portal that helps users to select the most applicable, productive, chemical-resistant gloves for potentially hazardous applications. ChemRest contains easy-to-read chemical resistance data from over 9,000 conclusive tests and includes rankings of the most to least effective protection for specific chemicals. The site also offers a powerful search facility to enhance customer service.

Scott Health & Safety

Scott Health & Safety made 15 contributions totaling $87,500 to various organizations that provide assistance or education to groups or individuals in safety-related industries. Recipients include the American Industrial Hygiene Association, First Responder Institute, FDNY Foundation, the National Volunteer Fire Council and the Foundation for Occupational Health & Safety, among others.

NAEMT

The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) selected CentreLearn Solutions LLC to provide learning management support for its online education programs. In addition to providing access to the CentreLearn online catalog and NAEMT educational programs, this technology will enable online discussion groups, announcements and information distribution services for NAEMT committees and members. “As a technology provider, CentreLearn has an unparalleled understanding of the needs of emergency responders, coupled with a strong service philosophy,” said Jerry Johnston, NAEMT president.
