Jackson Safety

Jackson Safety announced that its Fenton, Mo., manufacturing and distribution center will close April 1, with product distribution transferred to the main manufacturing and distribution complex in Belmont, Mich. Corporate functions, sales, marketing and customer service will remain in Fenton. “This decision will improve customer service by enabling our distributor and wholesale partners to receive their order on one shipment compared to two today,” said Thomas Burns, president and CEO.

Industrial Scientific

Industrial Scientific Corp. appointed Justin McElhattan to the newly created position of president and COO. McElhattan will be responsible for integrating and growing the corporation's worldwide gas monitoring business. The company also announced that Dan Timco was promoted to the new position of global director of operational excellence effective March 1.

Sempermed

MedAssets Supply Chain Systems renewed its contract with glove manufacturer Sempermed USA for its complete line of examination gloves. The multi-year agreement began January 1 and includes a variety of Sempermed's latex, vinyl, powder-free and nitrile gloves. “Our new relationship will provide the product quality, service levels and implementation programs that will continue to drive this growth while providing value to MedAssets' customers,” said Marc Montalto, Sempermed's director of acute care.

Bullard

Bullard announced that Debbie Kenny was hired as vice president of marketing and sales. She will work to identify new and improved products and services while enhancing relationships with distributors. “Debbie's 30 years of marketing and sales management experience, combined with her high levels of energy and creativity, will serve us well as we introduce new products and programs,” said Bullard President and CEO Rick Miller.

Con-Space

Con-Space Communications Ltd. announced the appointment of Gordon E. Cook as the company's new president. He has served on the Con-Space board of directors since 2004 and replaces Michael Thirlwell, who recently resigned. “[Cook] comes to our company with a breadth of knowledge and experience,“ said CEO Terence A. Ibbetson.

Smurfit-Stone

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. completed its safest year in company history in 2007 by achieving a 1.05 recordable case rate and reducing the number of days lost due to occupational injuries and illnesses by 48 percent. “Thanks to our outstanding level of employee involvement, we have reduced occupational injuries and illnesses by nearly 90 percent since launching our Smurfit-Stone Accident-Free Environment process in 1995,” said Steve Klinger, president and COO.
