One workers'' compensation insurance provider wants to eliminate some of the hoops employers jump through when submitting insurance information about a claim or trying to access monthly loss reports.
United Heartland, a writer of worker''s compensation policies in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa, recently launched Inside UH, a new feature on its Web site. The company hopes Inside UH will streamline the information associated with worker''s compensation insurance policies.
Agents and clients looking for monthly loss reports, accident claim forms or information on back belts and other workplace safety issues can log onto United Heartland''s Web site at www.heartland.cobaltcorporation.com and click on Inside UH. Inside UH requires a user identification and password. It is accessible only to agents, clients, and employees.
Traditionally, reports were mailed to agents and clients each month. Now, anyone with access can log on, view the information and have the option to print the reports or even download the data. United Heartland President Emil Pfenninger believes the new system will reduce the time it takes to process accident claims, lower administrative costs on producing and save mailing monthly reports. Clients can also obtain updated provider information and a PPO directory online.
"It is our philosophy that up-to-the-minute and easily accessible information about workplace safety issues and accident history will help reduce claims. This will reduce the loss ratios of our clients and help reduce their costs over the long term," said Pfenninger. ``This new feature on our Web site will enhance the close working relationship between United Heartland and employers to improve and manage workplace safety."
Pfenninger said United Heartland receives 200 medical bills each day for worker''s compensation cases. Future plans for the program include expanding the system to allow providers to submit bills electronically, thereby removing the current need to submit forms through the mail.
