FEMA Head Recalled to Washington

Whether it was his inept handling of the crisis along the Gulf Coast, allegedly fudging his resume to make him appear to have had experience with emergency management, or some other reason, Michael Brown, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has been relieved of his duties managing the government response to Hurricane Katrina.

Brown's replacement is Coast Guard Vice Admiral Thad W. Allen, who has been involved in rescue operations in New Orleans.

According to reports, White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Brown has not been asked to resign, nor has he resigned.
