Travel Channel's 'Made in America' to Feature Safety Flashlight Maker

March 20, 2006
John Ratzenberger is best known for portraying the pontificating postal worker Cliff Claven on "Cheers." But on April 4, he'll be pontificating about safety products.

Ratzenberger, now the host of the Travel Channel's "Made in America" series, will profile Torrance, Calif.-based Pelican Products Inc., which manufactures safety flashlights and high-impact equipment cases.

"We're tremendously proud to have joined a very elite group of American businesses who have been invited to be examples of companies manufacturing high-quality, American-made products," Pelican Chief Operating Officer John Padian said. "Being recognized by 'Made in America' is a testament to the hard work and ingenuity delivered every day by our fine group of employees."

Each year, "Made in America" visits roughly 40 manufacturing facilities across the country. The show airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on the Travel Channel (check local channel guides for availability).
