Boston ASSE Donates Whistles to Fight North End Rapist

    The Boston Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) donated hundreds of whistle/key chains to the Boston Police Department to help fight a rapist preying on women in the North End neighborhood.

    The Boston ASSE chapter presented the whistle/keychains to the police department's Area A headquarters over the weekend

    Responding to recent news reports of another attack on a woman in the early morning hours, the ASSE donated the green whistle/key chains for the police to distribute at self-defense courses and to merchants in the area to provide for free to North End residents.

    The Boston chapter of the ASSE is one of the nation's largest and has been in existence for 77 years. ASSE, celebrating its 90th anniversary, has 30,000 members.
