Less than two months after being re-appointed to a second six-year term, Linda Rosenstock, director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), is one of two finalists for the position of dean at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Public Health.

Rene Dennis, coordinator for executive searches in the chancellor''s office at UCLA, said Rosenstock was on campus in late May for interviews with the school''s administration.

"The process is still going on," Dennis said. "We hope to reach a decision as soon as possible, but we can''t predict when that might be."

Rosenstock took over as director of NIOSH in 1994, and was re-appointed to the post in April of this year, according to an institute spokesperson.

The head of NIOSH said she had no comment on being short-listed for the dean''s position.
