DOE Senior Advisor for Health and Safety Named

The DOE named Brian Costner as senior policy advisor for environment, safety and health issues.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Bill Richardson named Brian Costner as senior policy advisor for environment, safety and health issues.

Costner has more than a decade of experience relating to the DOE and its facilities. He has was the director of the Energy Research Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization addressing site-specific and national DOE issues in Columbia, S.C.

Costner has also served on a number of advisory and working committees by the DOE, the National Research Council and the Medical University of South Carolina.

"Brian Costner is a strong addition to our team," said Richardson. "He knows the Energy Department well and his experience in educating the public will be a great asset as we continue to address concerns of workers and communities near our major sites."

Costner has a master's degree from Antioch University's Environment and Community Program in Seattle, Wash.
