Holiday Safety: Tip No. 2

Dec. 2, 1999
Suggestions on how to avoid hazardous slips and falls caused by winter weather.

With the return of winter weather, ice and snow can cause roads and walkways to be hazardous. Remember to be mindful of slips and fall hazards off-the-job as well as on-the-job. The Hartford, an international insurance and financial services operation, offers some helpful hints.

  • Keep icy walkways and steps at work or home clear of snow and ice.
  • Be prepared for bad weather; stock up on sand and road salt before the first flakes begin to fall.
  • Make sure holiday decorations don't block walkways or create other obstacles to pedestrians.
