Airlines Names Top Safety Position

Feb. 4, 2000
US Airways named William G. Bozin as its vice president for safety and regulatory compliance.

Bozin will be in charge of all US Airways safety programs as well as its relationships with U.S. government agencies on safety issues.

Bozin worked for the Air Transport Association (ATA), where he was senior director of safety for four years.

At the ATA Bozin had a hand in coordinating the nation's airlines and government agencies and other organizations to develop policies and programs to enhance commercial aviation safety.

"Bill Bozin is one of the top aviation safety officials in the nation," said Carol Hallett, president and CEO of the ATA. "Through his tenure in the airline business, he has consistently and effectively worked to create an unsurpassed industry safety record."

Prior to joining the ATA, Bozin was a U.S. Navy pilot for more than 20 years, serving in a variety of safety, operations, training and command positions.

As a trained safety investigator, he helped organize the Navy's first aviation squadron safety department and established the Navy's first fixed-wing crew resource management training program.

Bozin has a bachelor's degree of science in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and a master's of science degree in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in California.
