Ergonomic Solutions Offered to Make Studying Easier

Aug. 18, 2009
College students looking to study in style and comfort now have a chance to win an ergonomic chair or keyboard tray from ergonomic seating manufacturer Neutral Posture Inc. The company is launching a Facebook promotion inviting college students to share their perspective on why ergonomics is important in the workplace.

Each student who posts an answer to the question, "Why Go Ergo?," on Neutral Posture's Facebook group wall from now until the end of August will be entered into a drawing to win a Neutral Posture 8600 chair or its elementAL keyboard tray.

“As part of the next generation of workers, we want to hear college students' perspective on why they think companies should invest in ergonomics to promote the overall well-being of their employees,” said Rebecca Boenigk, CEO and chairman of the board of Neutral Posture. “While we are pleased to see the value of ergonomics in the workplace being realized, we hope our nation's future business leaders will look to the physical and economic benefits of ergonomics as a way to create a healthier, more productive workforce.”

Workers who sit for long periods of time without proper chair support are at greater risk of aches, pains and injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Research has shown, however, that ergonomic seating can help alleviate these ailments because it helps the body achieve a neutral posture, which is when there is equidistant spacing of the vertebrae and an ideal balance in the muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Winners of Neutral Posture's Facebook promotion will be announced on the company's group wall once they have been contacted and their college status verified.
