Best Glove appointed Jay C. Hickel to its central region sales team as a territory manager for sales in Alabama, Mississippi, East Tennessee and the Florida panhandle. Hickel's 30-year career includes various territory sales positions for the safety division of 3M. He has extensive knowledge of the business-to-business sales environment where he has specialized in selling through distributors and working with end users.

“Jay's background in both safety and distributor sales fits right in with our business model at Best,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Tom Eggleston. “I am very happy to have Jay on our team and look forward to his contributions to our sales efforts.”

Industrial Scientific

Pittsburgh-based Industrial Scientific Corp. announced Scott Lordo was appointed to the newly created position of global director of product development. He will lead the company's product development process, build a program office and lead the global coordination of engineering practices and standards. Lordo's experience includes working as a senior engineering manager of rail solutions and an application/development engineering manager for Cattron-Theimeg.

Fulwilers Donate $100,000 to AIHF

The American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF) announced that Richard “Rick” and Carol Fulwiler have committed $100,000 to endow the Rick and Carol Fulwiler Scholarship. AIHF awards scholarships to students studying industrial hygiene and related disciplines. Fulwiler is the president of Technology Leadership Associates in Cincinnati, Ohio, and serves on the Occupational Hazards editorial board.

“In the spirit of giving back, Carol and I have donated $100,000 in the form of a pledge and bequest to the AIHF leading to the establishment of an endowed scholarship,” he said.

  • Koch Pipeline

    API recently honored Koch Pipeline Co., a 2006 Occupational Hazards America's Safety Company, with the API Occupational Safety Award. Koch Pipeline was recognized for an injury-free performance in 2007; maintaining an OSHA recordable rate of 0; and requiring documented operator safety requirements and performance criteria.

  • Draeger Safety

    Draeger Safety received the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Consumer Award for respiratory protection. This award honors the manufacturer that best fulfills customer needs in respiratory protection, including safety, ease of use, technical features, comfort and design based on two Frost & Sullivan PPE studies.

  • Tarlton Corp.

    An exemplary commitment to health and safety earned St. Louis-based general contractor and construction management firm Tarlton Corp. first-place honors in the Associated General Contractors of America's (AGC) Construction Safety and Excellence Awards. Tarlton also won the 2008 Aon Build America Award for its renovation of an 80-year-old church and adjoining school.

  • Omron STI

    Frost & Sullivan recently awarded Omron STI the 2008 North American Company of the Year Award in the machine safety domain. The award recognizes the Omron's leading market share, extensive product line, sales and distribution channel and its 35-year presence in the machine safety markets.
