Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. said it plans to offer onsite family health care centers for its employees and their families.

Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. said it plans to offer onsite family health care centers for its employees and their families.

Scheduled to open in 2015, the centers will offer a variety of services, including primary care, an onsite pharmacy and laboratory services, the firm said.

“The establishment of these family health centers is another investment in our employees and an important step toward building a culture of health and wellness across our company,” said Bill Ermatinger, corporate vice president and chief human resources officer for the Newport News, Va.-based shipbuilder. “These health centers will offer personalized care with a focus on prevention and health maintenance along with full patient confidentiality and privacy.”

Huntington Ingalls said it wants to give employees more health and wellness options beyond visits to their primary care physicians. The options include Teladoc, a program in which employees can talk to board-certified physicians via telephone, mobile application or computer.

Additionally, the company is offering a discounted rate for health care to salaried employees who attest that they do not use tobacco.

“The health centers, which will be operated by a third-party vendor, will be located near the shipyards to provide employees and their families with a convenient and very affordable healthcare option,” the company said.

“The services will be available to non-represented employees and their dependents who are covered by the Anthem consumer-driven or preferred-provider plans.”

With a workforce of 39,000 people, Huntington Ingalls Industries designs, builds and manages nuclear and conventionally powered ships for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
