Stress Remedy Tip #2: Disconnect with Social Media & Reconnect with Loved Ones

More Than Half of Americans Have Unhealthy Work-Life Balance

New survey results indicate U.S. workers take vacation days for reasons other than rest and relaxation.

U.S. workers are trapped in an unhealthy work-life balance and can't find the time to unwind after hours, according to Groupon analysis.

The e-commerce company asked 2,000 Americans about what causes them stress at work and what they do to remedy it.

“Balancing the demands of a career and family can be tough, which is why it’s so important to make sure that you regularly give yourself a break," said Silvija Martincevic, Groupon's vice president and general manager of health, beauty and wellness.

Sixty percent of respondents indicated that the pressures and responsibilities of the workplace and home life don't have boundaries. A third of Americans said they work too hard, with 40% responding that they work too many hours.

“While people are stressed and overworked, the good news is that most people are at least aware of the need to maintain a healthy work-life balance and know exactly what they would do to relax if given the time,” Martincevic added. “Whether it’s a massage or another popular spa treatment, we want to help people find the time and places to relax.”

This infographic explains why Americans feel like their work-life balance is at jeopardy and what they are doing to relax.
