AAOHN Offers Travel Immunization Webcast

Nov. 17, 2006
The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) is hosting an international travel immunization Webcast and it is inviting occupational health professionals to register.

The Webcast, "OHNs and International Travel: 2006 Travel Immunization Update," will be presented from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Dec. 6.

Travel health expert, clinician and researcher Gail Rosselot M.S., MPH, will provide information necessary for preparing international business travelers for their trips. Among topics that will be highlighted are the 2006 standards for vaccine selection and administration and updated immunization guidelines for business travel to India and China.

Rosselot also will present case studies on common rabies and Japanese encephalitis challenges.

"Occupational and environmental health nurses are increasingly responsible for the pre-travel preparation of international business travelers," AAOHN President Susan Randolph said. "While travel health care is more than 'just shots,' the selection and administration of travel vaccines are central to the pre-travel consultation visit. This Webcast will provide valuable information to occupational health professionals who are part of the pre-travel process."

AAOHN noted that members who register for the Webcast will earn 1.0 continuing nursing education contact hour.

A high-speed Internet connection is recommended for the Webcast. No software downloads are required to participate. During the live program, listeners will be able to pose questions to the presenter through a chat function.

AAOHN members and nonmembers can register for the Webcast online by visiting the AAOHN Web site or by calling (770) 455-7757.
