AIHA Launches New Consumer Web Site

Dec. 27, 2011
Industrial hygiene is not related to dental hygiene, or personal hygiene, but if you ask the average person what it is, those might be the answers you receive. In an effort to educate the general public about the practice of industrial hygiene and its importance in the workplace, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) recently launched a new consumer-focused Web site, allowing the general public to access resources and information about industrial hygiene and related fields.

The Web site http://www.workerhealthsafety.com, which launched on Dec. 15, is a consumer guide to the profession, careers and matters of concern to industrial hygienists. The new site provides information about day-to-day responsibilities of an industrial hygienist, what it takes to achieve an industrial hygiene career, and the important issues and challenges an IH professional routinely addresses.

The Web site constantly will be updated with industry news and information and will include helpful links to EPA, NIOSH and state OSHA programs.
